LGBT and anti-bullying activist Dan Savage took aim at Melania Trump, saying the first lady is “ugly on the inside as she is pretty on the outside.” He said he think several liberals are giving her a pass because of her look, something she doesn’t really deserve.

On his latest “Savage Love” podcast, Savage has ranted about how he is not impressed by America’s new first lady. “God knows there’s enough hate in the world and I don’t want to add to the sum total, but forgive me, I have got to get this off my chest,” the Wrap quoted him saying.

Savage, who is also an executive producer of ABC’s “The Real O’Neals,” said he hates the FLOTUS. He believes that some people do not only hate Melania, but also perceive her as a “sympathetic figure.”

The author and sex columnist described Melania as a “pretty princess locked up by the orange ogre.” Melania, he implied, is a princess that desperately delivers distress signals in ceremonies and inaugural balls.

Savage went on to say that the “undeservedly charitable view” of Melania is from the people’s predisposition to “think that the insides of pretty people match the outsides of pretty people.” He said that will not apply to the FLOTUS. Instead, he called Melania a birther and a plagiarist.

Savage is popularly known as an activist and left-wing provocateur. He led the It Gets Better project in 2010 that urged several people, which includes former US President Barack Obama, to record messages that inspire bullied gay teenagers to go on with their lives instead of committing suicide.

Although the first lady may not please everyone, including Savage, Melania’s approval rating climbs to 52 percent, up by 16 points since US President Donald Trump took office. On Wednesday, she hosted her first luncheon in the State Dining Room of the White House for the celebration of International Women’s Day. During her speech for the said event, Melania talked about gender equality.

The FLOTUS had earlier expressed appreciation for women who support other women. “Applause to all women around the world who speak up, stand up and support other women!” she tweeted last month with the hash tags #PowerOfEveryWoman and #PowerOfTheFirstLady.

Next month, the first lady is expected to make another White House appearance for the annual East Egg Roll on the South Lawn. The event was set on April 17 and admission is free.
