President Donald Trump is receiving a massive backlash for his comment “fire and fury” in response to North Korea’s aggressive rhetoric since Tuesday. The backlash has extended into the third day, and an old thorn in the side of the Trump administration resurfaced to mock him for his insensitive comment on North Korea.

Former Federal Attorney Preet Bharara, who was ousted by Trump along with dozens of other Justice Department lawyers back in March, was as disconcerted like the rest of us today at something the President said to reporters.

Reporters today asked Trump about his thoughts on Vladimir Putin expelling 755 U.S. Embassy staffers from Russia in retaliation for U.S. sanctions he signed into law last week.  To which he said, “I want to thank [Putin] because we’re trying to cut down our payroll and as far as I’m concerned.”

Preet Bharara instantly took to Twitter and composed a hilarious tweet coupling these two most recent presidential punchlines:

It’s nice to know in these tense times that victims of Trump’s ideological crusade are able to maintain a sense of humor. Then again, it is getting more impossible by the day to take this President seriously about anything.
